Junior Maritime Lawyer - Principality of Monaco

ROLE: Junior Maritime Lawyer
LOCATION: Montecarlo, Monaco
DEPARTMENT: Legal & Insurance

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a junior lawyer with a shipping background to join our in-house legal team. The position involves some contentious and non-contentious work. This position offers a chance to grow your knowledge of the shipping industry and to travel internationally.

In this role, reporting to your responsible, you will deliver a variety of tasks like:

  • Assisting the commercial and operations teams in drafting and negotiating maritime agreements and in the daily operations of the vessels;
  • Managing a mixture of maritime claims and will be regularly liaising with P&I Clubs, external lawyers, surveyors and other maritime professionals.

EXPERIENCE AND RELEVANT SKILLS

The successful candidate has:

  • An outstanding academic background focused on Maritime Law.
  • 1-2 +years of experience in, Law firm specialized in Maritime Law or In-house Legal Dep in a Shipping/Broker Company or P&I/Defence Club.
  • Familiarity with shipping trade documentation in particular, charterparties and bills of lading.
  • Analytical & Strong reasoning skills.
  • Excellent relation and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated individual, flexible, proactive and able to work both independently and in team.
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken.
