Assistant Accountant - DUBLIN


JOB TITLE: Assistant Accountant - DUBLIN


DEPARTMENT: Finance / International Accounting & Reporting

CONTRACT: Specific purpose contract (approximately 9 months)


Reporting to the Accounting & Reporting Manager, the successful candidate will assist in the preparation of statutory, financial and management information in accordance with the Group’s reporting deadlines and will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing voyage accounts – income and expenses including resolving any issues arising from other departments
  • Checking and updating invoice batches from the Shipping Software into the Accounting Package
  • Reconciling Supplier Statements with Accounts
  • Reconciliation and maintenance of balance sheet accounts
  • Reconciliation of accounting records to voyage performance reports
  • Liaising with external auditors as part of the annual audit process
  • Dealing with queries and responding to information requests from other departments
  • Preparation of monthly management reports
  • Ad-hoc projects as required by the Accounting Manager


  • Part / Qualified accountant with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Excel (intermediate to advanced skills) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment and with colleagues located in offices worldwide
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capacity to work under pressure during busy periods
  • Highly motivated, flexible, proactive and autonomous
  • Fluent English essential
  • Knowledge of the Shipping sector a plus but not essential
